Reflections on 2025: Creating Confidence
It took me a while to publish this post. I guess it just slipped my mind—but nevertheless, here we go.
I missed posting my theme for last year, but I’ve been applying it throughout the months. Looking back at how I measured up to my 2025 goals, I’d say I hit about 85% of them. While I didn’t quite achieve the primary goal of this theme, my health in general remained good, and for that, I am grateful.
Why this theme?
Personally, I wanted to be “Confident” in the way I look. I’ve struggled with being overweight for decades, and the journey to weight loss has always been a battle. I wanted to conquer that last year. Sadly, I fell short on that specific goal, even while I thrived in other areas. Let’s break down what that really means.
How do you define Confidence?
Confidence (noun)
The feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.
The sharing of private matters or secrets with mutual trust.
To me, confidence takes many forms and depends entirely on our state of mind. This year, I want to continue building confidence—not just in myself, but in my projects, my health, and everything I offer the world.
The Three Pillars of My Confidence
1. Confidence in Health: The Foundation Physical, mental, and emotional health is the bedrock of everything. To be truly confident, we must empower our bodies and minds to feel capable of any challenge.
-
Physically: My goal remains to lose weight this year.
-
Mentally: As I step into the “Big 4-0,” I’m embracing a new level of maturity. I’m practicing positivity and committing to lifelong learning.
-
Emotionally: I think God had a reason for the delay in this post. By mid-January, I found myself on a career emotional rollercoaster. #EmaratRollercoaster
2. Confidence in Bravery: Stretching the Limits Confidence is tied to bravery. The more we stretch, the more we realize our potential. This year, I’m pushing further than ever—stepping outside my comfort zone and facing the creative challenges that scare me.
3. Confidence in Creativity: Dreaming Big Whether you’re an artist, writer, or entrepreneur, confidence is the engine of success. It’s what gives you the courage to share an idea before it’s “perfect.” I want to let go of self-doubt and let inspiration flow. Creativity thrives when we give ourselves permission to fail and try again.
So, how did 2025 actually turn out?
-
Health: I’ll keep the details private for now. As mentioned, I struggled here, but the journey continues. :(
-
Career: January and February were a total rollercoaster. I was on the verge of losing my job, yet here I am a year later. I truly thank God for the redirections that kept me on track.
-
Projects: Work on the Creative Passport revision is ongoing! I’m fixing clerical errors and preparing to get it into local bookstores soon.
-
Marriage: “Kokobear” and I had our fair share of arguments, but I praise God for the guidance that saw us through.
-
Faith & Community: Hectic as always! My highlight was finding the confidence to say “YES” to representing MFC Dubai for the Annual Lent Retreat. It was a very personal sharing—thank God for the strength to do it.
Overall, life is blessed. My dream of bringing my family to Boracay finally came true (yes, there were tears of joy!). We also visited Roxas and Iloilo. It was a beautiful year. Thank you, Jesus!
Confidence isn’t something you just have—it’s something you build. It starts with a decision to believe that your potential is limitless. Let’s create confidence together.
Amping ug Ampo!
God bless!
