TakeHome-ily: Open up for the Lord

From yesterday’s Gospel – I’d like to share a few reflections.

Gospel 12 Aug 2018 - iamjmkayne.com

Jesus reveals himself as the “bread of life”.  Majority of us have a hard time accepting this. But let us try to be open to the mysteries of God. Let us be open especially when it comes to our faith.

quote green - iamjmkayne.com

Kahit gaano ka ka-“ganda” (ang tao o bagay man) kapag sarado ka – hindi tutuloy sa atin ang biyaya ng Diyos. However good or beautiful you are (as a person/things/situation) if you are closed and not willing to share your life. You would not see the blessings of the Lord.

Be OPEN for the LORD.

Open up – starting with these three concepts.

1 – Open up even your questions, even your doubts.

“Bulong ng bulong, kapag tinatanong ayaw naman mag open”. You keep on whispering/saying this and that – but when asked you don’t share and open up. Only to end up – you, start to share it to the wrong person causing it to become a “gossip”. Open it up to someone whom you think worth trusting and sharing. If you are a member of a community – open it to your servant/leaders or elders.

Open up not only your joys but even the dark sides of your life. Joy shared is happiness shared. Worries shared are lesser worries because someone else is praying for you.

2 – Open up and God will teach you

How will the Lord teach? Listen. Listen. Listen

Silent when written the opposite way is LISTEN. You can’t listen without silence. When you allow the avalanche of sounds and noise your emotions and thoughts – you might miss the message from God. A message that sometimes revealed through the silence of our heart. Stay open to silent moments. To prayer times – prayer time in just simply listening. Go to adoration chapels or have your silent prayer time.

3 – Be open that God is contemporary

Contemporarymeaning – belonging to or occurring in the present. (NOW. PRESENT HERE)

God is contemporary. He is present. He is with us. He is in our journey. He knows what we have; what’s our thoughts, our prayers and what’s in our heart.

Don’t look too far.

Don’t look far behind.

Because He is walking with us. He is here. He might even be using someone for you to open up. For you to share your life at. He could be the priest to whom you confess to. He could be that stranger in the metro, bus or somewhere else in an unexpected moment. Or He could simply be that family member, a brother/sister that both friendly or difficult to you. Step back and look at the situation in a new pair of eyes (the eyes of faith) – that God is contemporary. Everyday. Every. Moment.

By being open, just like opening your hand – you allow blessings to fall into it. You allow God to give you what you are supposed to receive.

Question: What is the “bread” that God is asking you to eat (or receive) today?

Whatever it is – look at it in the eyes of faith. Be open, be blessed and be God’s blessings!
